1938 FIRST PATTERN U.S. ARMY MACKINAW COAT
Introduced under the 6-104A specification in 1938, the First Pattern Mackinaw represents one of the early cold-weather coat designs adopted by the U.S. Army before World War II.
Designed for cold-weather field use, the Mackinaw combined a substantial wool-lined construction with a practical hip-length silhouette, providing warmth and wind protection while maintaining enough mobility for military use.

DISTINCTIVE FIRST PATTERN DETAILS
One of the defining characteristics of the early Mackinaw is its large shawl collar.
