Developed for the U.S. Army Air Corps, the B-6 was designed as a lighter and more mobile alternative to the heavier B-3 shearling flight jacket. Its shorter wool pile, adjustable waist and action-back construction provided warmth while allowing greater freedom of movement inside confined aircraft.
This reproduction is made from genuine Australian sheepskin shearling with an approximately 15 mm natural wool pile, around 3–4 mm shorter than the heavier B-3 style. The result is a less bulky, more fitted shearling flight jacket suitable for both collecting and everyday wear.
CLASSIC B-6 DETAILS
The distinctive folding action back expands naturally when the arms reach forward, providing greater shoulder movement for driving, riding or daily activity.
Zipper adjustments on both sides of the waist create a more shaped silhouette, clearly distinguishing the B-6 from the straighter B-3.
The compact shearling collar features a genuine leather throat strap and can be raised and secured for additional wind protection.
Two angled front hand pockets use durable natural-colored canvas pocket bags. The jacket also features snap-adjustable cuffs and traditional snap-fastened shoulder epaulettes.
The main front zipper and side adjustment zippers use Japanese ASAHI metal zippers.
NATURAL SHEARLING
The exterior leather surface and interior wool are two sides of the same natural sheepskin.
We use a relatively light surface finish to preserve the flexibility and natural character of the leather rather than applying an excessively heavy coating. Slight variations in grain, texture and tone are therefore natural characteristics of genuine shearling.
