Standardized in 1943 and issued for combat use in early 1944, the B-10 marked an important transition in USAAF flight clothing. Developed as an alternative to leather A-2 and heavier sheepskin flight garments, the B-10 combined a high-density fabric shell with a full alpaca-wool blend pile lining. It was lighter, less bulky, and offered greater freedom of movement inside cold, unheated aircraft. The B-10 saw extensive use in the European Theater during 1944 before being replaced by the improved B-15 series. Its short service life makes it one of the most distinctive USAAF flight jacket designs of WWII. DETAILS • High-density twill outer shell with water-resistant treatment • Military yellow-olive / beige color • Full alpaca-wool blend pile lining — body and sleeves • Genuine shearling collar with two-button closure • TALON metal zipper with leather pull tab • Internal zipper wind flap • Buttoned shoulder epaulets • Two large front patch pockets • Pencil pocket beneath the left pocket flap • Warm fabric-lined interior pocket • Double-layer wool knit cuffs and waistband • Short cockpit-friendly cut with room for layering Recommended temperature: approximately -10°C to 10°C (14°F to 50°F), depending on layering and activity level. IMPORTANT LINING NOTE The thick alpaca-wool blend lining uses an early-style knitted pile construction. Some loose fibers are normal when the jacket is new. We recommend avoiding dark-colored inner layers during initial wear. Shedding will gradually decrease as the pile settles and naturally curls with use. This is a modern reproduction of the WWII USAAF Type B-10, not an original WWII garment. Please check the size chart and garment measurements carefully before ordering.
